Thelma English Classical Literature Book List

Popular local instructor Thelma English teaches a Classical Literature course at various venues in the area. You can read more about her by clicking here. We have prepared a package of the books required for her class, and have been careful to select the editions she uses.

  or Folger Library Edition (can also be used in Thelma's Shakespeare class)

Optional Titles:

During the course of the school year, Thelma gives students the chance to earn extra credit by reading one of the following four books and by writing a report on it. These books are not discussed in class, so you do not need the exact editions recommended below.

• Oxford edition of Ben-Hur (ISBN: 0192831992, out of print—may we suggest the Signet version?)
• The Robe
• The Silver Chalice
• Barnes & Noble edition of Quo Vadis (unavailable—may we suggest the Dover edition?)
