Herodotus—a contemporary of Old Testament Malachi—recorded his "historie"(the Greek word meaning "inquiry") from his own extensive journeys. An exceptionally curious Greek, he left civilization for nine years to travel the northern lands, recording the past events, customs and geographical settings of these "barbaric"peoples. This was an extreme idea for 460 B.C., but for Herodotus a fascinating and absorbing one. Find out for yourself the mysterious, exciting and amusing things he discovered and wrote about in Syria, Persia and Egypt as you travel with him on the road to history.
