Danny loved holidays. And luckily, there were plenty of them to celebrate, from Rosh Hashanah and Hanukkah to Purim and Passover.

The festivities were lots of fun. But somehow, unexpected things always seemed to happen when Danny was around.

There was the time he got to blow the shofar—and found something most unusual inside.

Or the day he decided to change his lines in the Hanukkah play so that it would have a better ending!

Or the time he came to his class's Lag ba-Omer picnic dressed in a VERY unique way.

Danny has a favorite holiday, too—and everyone who loves celebrations will understand why. Sydney Taylor has again written a warm and humorous book, which fans of her All-of-a-Kind Family stories will especially enjoy.

____________________________

Sydney Taylor's childhood on New York's East Side was suffused with the ceremonies and symbolism of Jewish festivals. She loved to hear stories of holiday celebrations in the "old countries" of Poland and Russia, as told by immigrants at the turn of the century and refashioned by the great Jewish writers of the period.

In Danny Loves a Holiday, her recollections of the holy days are made contemporary, brought into the present through the experiences of an American child.

Mrs. Taylor is the author of the well-loved All-of-a-Kind Family series, including Ella of All-of-a-Kind Family.

Gail Owens is the illustrator of many books, including Sydney Taylor's Ella of All-of-a-Kind Family and I Hate Red Rover by Joan Lexau. She lives in Rock Tavern, New York.
